Working with other Teacher Training Providers in Buckinghamshire

At Insignis Academy Trust as well as launching our Teacher Training provision in association with Teach First, we also work very closely with several key local Training Providers and also with some further afield. 

At IAT we recognise that attracting future teachers is a challenging endeavour. We do not believe that this is an issue that any one agency can solve on its own. This is why we have a close, positive and productive relationship with other Local Training Partners. 

We are proud to work with our key partners: Astra, The Buckingham Partnership, Buckingham University, the Maths and Physics Hub, Coventry University and Teach First. 

Astra, The Buckingham Partnership and Buckingham University have a strong reputation in our area as Training Partners and a significant number of teachers in our schools have graduated from their salaried and unsalaried training programmes. Astra is also our Early Career Teachers (ECTs) partner, ensuring that ECTs in our schools are supported fully in the first stages of their careers. Both Astra and The Buckingham Partnership also are key partners in supporting our overseas teachers with their assessment-only route to UK Qualified Teacher Status. 

We also work with the Maths and Physics Hub based in High Wycombe. Alongside their specific Teacher Training Work, they are also a key partner for us in supporting Conversion Courses to enable maths teachers and teachers of other sciences to convert their skills to teach physics to an A Level standard. 

We work with Coventry University specifically on the Teacher Apprenticeship Route. This is a salaried route into teaching and we have successfully supported several new teachers through the programme, using our Apprenticeship Levy to fund the training costs. 

We work with Teach First as part of their traditional model at The Mandeville School. This is a direct university recruitment scheme that enables a graduate to train on a salaried route with Teach First. Schools must fit some key criteria to meet the threshold for this Teach First programme and currently, only The Mandeville School meets this criteria. This programme is separate from our Teach First Initial Teacher Training which is focused on Initial Teacher Training at all of our schools. Recruitment to this programme is directly through Teach First and is targeted at graduates in their final year of university.
