Update for Year 11 students

Posted 2nd Apr

Please see the below update from Mr Robinson, Progress Leader for Year 11

There are a couple of aspects that I would like you to be aware of. Your teachers have set work on Show My Homework for you to complete. Please take time out of your day to complete the work as you need to ensure you are ready for Post-16 study in September.

Furthermore, we have preliminary information regarding how the Government will award grades to GCSE students so we need to continue putting ourselves in the best position possible and continue to complete assigned work. The Government’s priority is to make sure that all of you can move on to the next stage of your lives. This means ensuring all Mandeville GCSE students are awarded a grade which fairly reflects the work that they have put in. There will also be an option to sit an exam in the next academic year for students who wish to. There will be a process that will provide a calculated grade for each student which reflects their performance as fairly as possible. The exam boards will be asking teachers to submit their judgement about the grade that they believe the student would have received if exams had gone ahead, following clear guidance. To produce this, teachers will take into account a range of evidence which may include performance in mock exams and non-examination work.

We are also receiving lots of questions regarding Leavers Hoodies. We are currently in contact with a company that specialise in this field. Once we have set up the online shop with the company you will be able to log in and purchase one, which will then be delivered to your home address. They will cost around £22 per student including delivery, and there will be some extra customisation options available as well. Please bear with us as we set this up, and we will update you when they are ready to purchase.
