School buses and the fuel crisis
As you know due to the shortage of fuel, a number of our bus services were cancelled this morning.
We have been working closely with our transport providers throughout the day and can reassure you that we will be picking your child/children up after school today, as near to their normal time as possible. We are hearing that traffic is heavier than normal across the county, not least as a result of people queuing for fuel and blocking the roads. This could make the school run longer than usual, so please bear this in mind.
Our bus operators have assured us that they have sufficient fuel for tomorrow morning’s pick up but please keep an eye on our website - https://www.buckscc.gov.uk/services/education/school-transport/school-bus-routes-and-stops-202122/ - over the next couple of days, so if your school transport is cancelled then you have time to make alternative arrangements for either getting your child to school.
Please note that there may be short notice or indeed no notice of bus cancellations as many of our school buses are reliant upon local petrol stations and unfortunately there is no national prioritisation for key workers to access fuel and/or transport. Buckinghamshire Council’s Chief Executive and Leader are urging all petrol stations to prioritise access for school buses and taxis to ensure children get to school.
We would urge you to check our school transport pages regularly to see the most up to date information on the school transport situation - Our transport updates webpage can be found here: https://www.buckscc.gov.uk/services/education/school-transport/school-bus-routes-and-stops-202122/
