Key Stage 4

In achieving the school's curriculum intent, students in Key Stage 4 are offered a broad curriculum, that is a balance between the core subjects of English, mathematics and science, and a wide range of others. During Key Stage 4 all students must study the Core subjects, at least one from history or geography, and students are highly encouraged to choose a language.

All students have physical education lessons and dedicated lessons for PSHCE, including RSE (Relationships and Sex Education). The PSHCE and religious studies curriculums are also supplemented by assemblies and the tutor time activity programme.

Year 9 students engage in an Options process each year to select the best subject choices for their own growth and future goals.

Each subject has its own curriculum intent statement, which sets out the broad ambition of the subject for the Key Stage, including specific knowledge, skills and understanding from the chosen exam board specification, and broader domain specific learning. The Curriculum Map details how the curriculum is sequenced across the 2 years of Key Stage 4.
